Contests and Deer!

Here is the photo that made my weekend. Well at the very least will have started the weekend off right. I am standing in the driveway about 20 feet away maybe a little less and I just kept moving closer and closer until the buck made it clear I was close enough.

This photo I entered in a contest for portraits. I am not sure how the winner is picked but if it is by likes then my little girl needs some love. I entered the photo in a contest on a site called Youpic.com. To like a photo you have to join the site. It is free and the site is incredibly cool. If your into photography at all you will like this site. If you like my photo and would like to help it along today is the day. The contest ends March 1st. I would really really appreciate it if you would join this cool site and show my photo some love. It is a cool site to post photos because they get copyrighted and can’t be stolen from the site, and the site is a fountain of inspiration. I use JoJoK as my user name and I titled the portrait A portrait of playing. you find the photo in my profile and in the contest section under Hot. You have to really scroll down in the contest section to find it. Again if you go show the photo some love I THANK YOU very much.

Have a great week end!

New 2!

Yesterday was cold, windy, and full of sunshine. I took a photograph of buds budding on my lilac bush to represent New. Today it is snowing and slightly over cast. I just had to walk out back and get a picture of the buds in snow.

I proudly present New 2, the first snow of the season sitting lightly on what I consider a symbol of New.

Day 19 Double Photo101

Well today I took yesterdays assignment, and yesterday I took today’s assignment. At last I am all caught up and ready for our final assignment(s) in this class. I am going to miss the daily challenges and the great feed back I got.

Today’s assignment Double could have caused me a little trouble, because I am the cook today and wasn’t to sure how or what I would do. I uploaded all the photos I took this morning and yesterday and there it was the perfect picture for today and it is double.

Happy Thanksgiving Photo101 edge : Day 18

It seems I am a day behind once again. Been that way all week in all areas of my life. I have no idea why.

Edge was a bit of a challenge until this morning. Hubby started a fire in the backyard and a few friends joined us. While standing around chatting  I looked around the yard and saw the perfect edge.

While watching me take pictures of the stone from every angle one of our friends suggested I take photos of the edge of the bark on a tree. He thought he was being funny but I was thinking Hmmm why not.

Day 17 Glass Photo 101

A day late but better then never at all. The weather  and Mom have me stuck inside and I was just drawing a blank when it came to glass. Which is surprising because all my dust collectors are glass, but nothing was jumping out at me. So I did something I try hard not to do. I went and looked at what other class mates had submitted. Some very cool pictures for sure. I saw one photo however that reminded me I took pictures of glass on my walk about in Center City this past weekend. So my photo is similar to one of yours but not the same. Thanks for the inspiration.

This is a far away shot  of the entire building. One of the few buildings in the city with that many windows.

My close up. I love glass objects in the window. The sun bleached colors in the mason jars caught my eye and I couldn’t pass with out taking at least one picture. I had to be careful of the angle I took it because there were people eating just behind the window and I didn’t want them in the picture.

Day 16 Treasure

This one was easy for me. I treasure my family above all else but a family picture was not possible today so I went to the 2nd thing I treasure most. It is something I keep by my side at all times and work hard to use it to the best of its ability.

Is anyone surprised this is my treasure?

Weekend Three I did a little of this & a little of that!

I likes my architecture picture from this weeks assignment, it has a cold creepy feeling to it, much like I think a real old castle would feel like, but it didn’t wow me. I had an idea of the type of shot I really wanted to get but couldn’t think of a place to get it. Until I was watching the movie National Treasure and they went running through Head house square in Philly, then I knew. I had to wait until Saturday to go, it was worth the wait. I parked my car a little away from south street and walked with my camera for a three hour pleasure tour of South street and surrounding areas.

I took a lot of pictures that day. I worked on different lighting, setting the shot, and capturing light.

This is head house square. Saturdays are market day so the shot I was planning couldn’t be done. There was enough empty space to take this shot. I love the shadows and the way the sun almost looks like it is moving on the pillars. Not exactly the shot I was looking for but I like the warmth and symmetry.

IMG_5825

I came back after the sun was down and more of the market was empty and took some more shots. I like this one I feel like I am walking down the lane and I like the feel the black & white gives it.

One more in the sun. I like the invitation to walk in the warm sun this one gives.

I really really like this and can’t say why. I would love some feed back on how I did this and how I could do it better. I have an idea of how I got this, but I really would like to be able to do this on purpose.

A few of my favorites for the day. I am trying to learn how to take pictures of lights like this and have it be warm and cozy not blurred. I am happy with the out come.
